Wellington Airport plans to expand into South Miramar. The airport has applied to Wellington City Council for land in Miramar to change from residential to designated for Airport Use (re-zoning) and to use the old Miramar South School land for 24/7 flight catering, freight logistics and rental car storage.
Wellington City Council is only accepting feedback from residents and property owners immediately adjacent to the site. They are the only people notified.
Are you affected but not consulted? Send your feedback to us and we may add it to our response.
There is no time to lose.
Submissions to WCC close 25 November.
We want our neighbourhood to remain residential.
We are concerned about:
Loss of green space
Loss of residential land
Environmental impact
24/7 industrial activity in a residential suburb
Impact to traffic along Broadway/Calabar Rd
Safety of our children walking to school
Cycle / pedestrian access to airport underpass
Property values
Catering trucks crossing Broadway
increased traffic on Caledonia/Devonshire
We had a public meeting
The meeting was on Wednesday 20 November, 7pm
